PHASE 1: Sauk Prairie Section

Eight interpretive signs were installed along the Great Sauk State Trail in the summer of 2018 thanks to generous support from the Sauk City Historic Preservation Committee, Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society, River Arts Inc., Alliant Energy, Sauk County UW Extension Arts & Culture Committee and Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.

One additional sign was added in the summer of 2021 thanks to support from the Village of Prairie du Sac.

Special thanks to the Village of Prairie du Sac, Village of Sauk City, and Sauk County Parks for help with installation.

PHASE 2: Sauk Prairie Recreation Area Section

Nine signs were added in the summer of 2019 thanks to support from the Friends of the Great Sauk State Trail, Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance, REI Co-op (Madison), and River Arts Inc.
